Antibiotic Resistance: Perceptions and General Knowledge. Santé publique France Barometer: Results of the 2024 Edition
In 2024, 41% of adults aged 18 to 79 reported that they had never heard of antibiotic resistance. Two in five adults are unaware that antibiotics are ineffective against the flu, a misconception that is more prevalent among adults from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and with lower levels of education. More than 25% mistakenly believe that in antibiotic resistance, it is our bodies that become resistant, when in reality it is the bacteria.
