The Pays de la Loire region experienced a heat wave during the summer of 2024. The heat’s impact on health resulted in 142 heat-related deaths over the course of the summer. In addition, there were 450 emergency room visits (300 of which resulted in hospitalization) and 99 SOS Médecins interventions for iCanicule.
