Surveillance of conjunctivitis in Réunion. Epidemiological update as of April 17, 2015.
Epidemiological Situation
The conjunctivitis outbreak, which has been ongoing on the island since the start of the school year in January, peaked in week 11 and has been declining for the past four weeks. Various health indicators show a decrease in visits to private practices. One in 10 residents of Réunion is estimated to have sought care from a general practitioner for conjunctivitis since the start of the outbreak. Microbiological test results have identified the pathogen responsible for this outbreak: Coxsackievirus A24.
