Key points

Gastroenteritis

  • The gastroenteritis outbreak has been declining since Week 44 across all surveillance systems;

  • The number of positive samples for acute gastroenteritis (AGE) is declining but has remained at a high level for several weeks;

  • Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) and non-adherent Escherichia coli (DAEC) have been identified in the majority of stool samples analyzed over the past 4 weeks, while the proportion of rotavirus has been decreasing for several weeks;

  • Sales of anti-diarrheal medications and oral rehydration solutions (ORS) in pharmacies are decreasing and are at the same level as the peak recorded during the same period in 2014–2022;

  • The rate of emergency room visits for gastroenteritis is declining and is at a level comparable to that of recent seasons;

  • Since the start of the gastroenteritis epidemic, 19 severe cases have been admitted to the intensive care unit at the Mayotte Hospital Center (CHM).

Bronchiolitis

  • Slight decrease in emergency room visits.

Influenza

  • The positivity rate for Influenza A(H3N2) remains stable at a high level; the transition to the epidemic phase occurred in week 44.

COVID-19

  • Circulation of the virus since week 43 after several months of very low circulation: 39 positive cases, by RT-PCR, in week 45.
