Key Points

  • Although the number of cases exceeded 100 in weeks 13 and 16, the number of new cases has remained stable and has declined slightly during weeks 17 and 18.

  • Since January 1, 2022, 1,243 cases of dengue have been recorded, which is 11.5 times fewer than in 2021, when the number of cases reached 14,249 in S18,

  • The southern region is the hardest hit by dengue, accounting for 62% of cases in weeks 17 and 18, particularly in the municipalities of Saint-Pierre, Saint-Louis, L’Etang-Salé, and Petite-Île,

  • A slight increase in emergency room visits was noted during weeks 15 and 18,

  • 21 hospitalizations have been recorded since the beginning of the year,

  • The positivity rate for April is below 3%,

  • Reunion has remained in an inter-epidemic period since the beginning of the year.
