Key Points

  • Since August 23, 2024, 529 cases of chikungunya have been reported on the island.

  • The outbreak is accelerating, with cases doubling in one week, rising from 82 in week 03 to 169 in week 04.

  • Active outbreaks, notably in Ravine Sheunon (Étang-Salé), Ligne des 400 (Saint-Pierre/Le Tampon), and Bras Creux (Le Tampon), remain highly active.

  • At the same time, the spread is intensifying, with cases reported in 18 municipalities, confirming island-wide transmission.

  • Since the beginning of the year, dengue transmission has remained limited, with 1 case detected in week 04, bringing the total number of cases detected since the start of the year to 5.
