Reunion Island: Community Efforts to Combat Mosquitoes.
Twice a year, the "Kass'Moustik" campaign raises awareness among the people of Réunion about preventive measures to stop the spread of mosquitoes that carry dengue and chikungunya. The campaign includes home visits, information booths, and community cleanups of ravines. An evaluation of the campaign shows that it has improved public awareness. But much remains to be done, since more than a quarter of the population does not associate the vector-borne diseases dengue and chikungunya with mosquitoes.
