A strategy for and with the people: the example of the fight against dengue fever.
Around the world, efforts to combat dengue fever, while achieving some success, face the challenge of reaching communities so that they adopt the most effective preventive measures, while also benefiting from a supportive environment that enables them to do so. Aware of these challenges, international health authorities have developed an action strategy that incorporates health promotion as one of the key factors for success in combating this type of epidemic. It is this “community-based” approach that is gradually being implemented in the affected countries, including the French overseas departments (Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, and Réunion).
