Health Surveillance of Arboviral Diseases in the Occitanie Region. Epidemiological Update as of September 7, 2020.
Key Highlights
From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance for chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in metropolitan departments colonized by the vector mosquito, Aedes albopictus.
In Occitanie, since May 1, 2020, 45 imported cases and 1 locally acquired case of dengue have been confirmed. No cases of chikungunya or Zika have been identified. To limit the risk of local transmission around cases that were viremic in Occitanie, 80 entomological surveys and 36 vector control treatments were carried out in the region this season.
Nationwide, from May 1 to September 4, 2020, the following were confirmed:
260 imported cases of dengue,
4 imported cases of chikungunya,
