Key Points

Surveillance of Gastroenteritis

  • Hospital activity related to the management of gastroenteritis has been declining since Week 11. It is comparable to what was observed during the same period last year.

  • According to data from the virology laboratories at the region’s university hospitals, rotavirus remains the primary enteric virus currently circulating.

  • Activity reported by SOS Médecins is also decreasing, but remains higher than what was observed during the same period last year.

  • Activity related to acute diarrhea is high in the Grand Est region, according to the Sentinelles Network.

Bronchiolitis Surveillance

  • Activity related to bronchiolitis in emergency departments has been low and stable for several weeks, confirming the end of the epidemic.

  • Bronchiolitis-related activity among SOS Médecins associations is declining and comparable to levels observed in previous years during the same period.

  • The bronchiolitis epidemic has ended in all regions since Week 10 (Source: Santé publique France).

Influenza Surveillance

  • In week 13, influenza activity in emergency departments and SOS Médecins associations in the region remains stable at a low level.

  • The Grand Est region, like all other regions, is no longer experiencing an epidemic.

  • According to available virological data, influenza virus circulation remains low.

Carbon monoxide poisoning surveillance

  • During weeks 12 and 13, there were 3 incidents of carbon monoxide poisoning involving 8 people.

Mortality surveillance

  • According to available data, mortality observed in recent weeks corresponds to typical seasonal levels.

Measles outbreak in Moselle

  • As of April 4, 65 cases of measles had been reported by the Grand Est Regional Health Agency (ARS). Of these cases, 57 are confirmed (49 through laboratory testing, 8 through epidemiological investigation) and 8 are suspected (based on suggestive clinical signs).
