Health Monitoring in the Grand-Est Region. Update as of September 23, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In Week 37 of 2022, increased circulation of SARS-CoV-2 in the Grand Est region:

    • Increased incidence across all age groups.

    • Stable number of new hospitalizations across all departments, but an increase in critical care admissions compared to Week 36 of 2022.

    • Increase in the number of emergency room visits.

    • Increase in the number of COVID-19 consultations for SOS Médecins associations in the region.

    • Departmental incidence rates: increased incidence rates in all departments of the region, with the sharpest increase observed in Meuse at 392 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (a 143% increase). The department with the highest incidence rate remains Ardennes (543 cases per 100,000 inhabitants).

    • In the Grand Est region, the screening rate is 35%, and all (100%) screened tests indicate a suspected Omicron variant (for tests where the mutation is sought and interpretable). In week 37 of 2022, 96% of screened samples carried a mutation consistent with the new Omicron sublineages, including BA.2.12.1, BA.4, and BA.5 (an increase compared to week 36 of 2022).

  • Prevention:

    • As of September 21, 2022, full vaccination coverage for the region was 77.2%. A booster dose had been administered to 85.3% of those aged 65–74 and to 79.4% of those aged 75 and older.

Monkeypox

  • As of September 20, 2022, there were 94 confirmed cases.
