Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • OSCOUR®: In week 49 of 2023, the proportion of emergency department visits related to bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age stabilized. It stood at 25%, representing 564 visits. The proportion of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis among all hospitalizations following an emergency department visit for children under 2 years of age was 43.6%.

  • SOS Médecins: In week 49 of 2023, the proportion of activity by SOS Médecins related to bronchiolitis decreased slightly. It stands at 11.8%, or 63 consultations.

Flu

  • OSCOUR®: The number of emergency department visits for flu-like illness, all ages, increased in week 49-2023 compared to the previous week (166 visits versus 88 in week 48-2023), representing 0.6% of activity.

  • SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for flu-like illness, all ages, is increasing in week 49-2023 (656 consultations compared to 503 in week 48-2023); the share of activity for flu is 8%.

COVID-19

  • OSCOUR®: In week 49-2023, the number of emergency department visits for COVID-19 continued to rise compared to previous weeks (525 visits compared to 423 in week 48-2023), representing 2.1% of total activity.

  • SOS Médecins: In week 49-2023, the number of SOS Médecins consultations for COVID-19 increased compared to previous weeks (314 consultations versus 206 in week 48-2023)

Acute Gastroenteritis

  • OSCOUR®: The number of emergency department visits for gastroenteritis, across all ages, remained stable in week 49-2023 compared to previous weeks. The share of activity is 1% and is higher than that observed during the same period last year.

  • SOS Médecins: The number of consultations for gastroenteritis across all age groups increased in week 49-2023. The activity rate for these conditions is 6% and is higher than that observed during the same period last year.

In this context and with family gatherings during the holiday season approaching, it is essential that at-risk individuals protect themselves by getting vaccinated against seasonal flu and COVID-19, and that everyone continues to follow preventive measures.
