COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Centre-Val de Loire Region as of December 3, 2021

In Week 47, virological indicators rose for the seventh consecutive week, and viral circulation intensified.

  • Increase in the incidence rate (IR) in all departments except Loir-et-Cher; 4 departments have an IR exceeding 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants: Cher, Eure-et-Loir, Indre-et-Loire, Loiret

  • IR rising across all age groups, with higher rates among people under 49

  • Positivity rate (PR) remains stable in the general population and is decreasing among symptomatic individuals

  • Increase in emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19, hospitalizations, and admissions to critical care

  • No confirmed cases of the Omicron variant in the Centre-Val de Loire region as of December 2 at 4:00 PM

Prevention

  • Regional vaccination coverage as of November 30: 77.3% for one dose, 76.1% for the full course, and 12.5% for the booster dose.

  • Vaccination coverage among people aged 65 and older eligible* for the booster dose was 80.2% (68.1% nationally).

  • Importance of combined measures: vaccination, including the booster dose for all eligible individuals, participation in contact tracing, and adherence to preventive measures
