Heat Wave and Health Alert System in Burgundy and Franche-Comté. Update as of June 23, 2017.
Key Points
This morning, Météo France issued an orange alert for 3 departments (39 Jura, 58 Nièvre, 71 Saône-et-Loire) and a yellow alert for 5 departments (21 Côte d'Or, 25 Doubs, 70 Haute-Saône, 89 Yonne, 90 Territoire de Belfort)
Since the start of the heat wave: an upward trend in heat-related illness (HRI) cases has been observed in both the OSCOUR® and SOS Médecins networks, at rates comparable to those during the July 2015 heat wave.
For yesterday:
- 21 visits to emergency rooms for heat-related illnesses. These visits mainly involved people aged 75 and older (80% of heat-related illnesses). Approximately 50% of these visits were followed by hospitalization.
- 15 SOS Médecins consultations for heat-related conditions. These consultations primarily involved people aged 15–44 (66% of heat-related cases).
