Are your vaccinations up to date? According to the 2014 INPES Health Barometer, nearly 80% of French people support vaccination in general, compared to just 61% in 2010. To reinforce this confidence, INPES has released a new document aimed at the general public. The goal is to answer questions the public may have (the benefits and risks of vaccination, how it works, etc.) and to encourage people to consult healthcare professionals to bring their vaccinations up to date. The start of the school year is an opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of vaccination and to encourage everyone to check their “vaccination status.” What are vaccines for? How do they work? Are there risks associated with vaccination? What is the difference between mandatory and recommended vaccines? Is it possible to receive multiple vaccines at the same time?, etc. After addressing these common questions, the brochure provides an overview of the various diseases preventable by vaccination and concludes with practical advice. Note that INPES also publishes a postcard featuring the simplified 2015 vaccination schedule.
