Epidemiological indicators show an overall increase in gastroenteritis activity in Guadeloupe over the past several weeks. The fact that the maximum expected values for the season have been exceeded for two consecutive weeks in community healthcare marks the start of the seasonal gastroenteritis outbreak in the territory, a common occurrence at this time of year and also observed in mainland France and Martinique.

REMINDER: To limit the spread of the viruses causing this emerging outbreak, it is essential to follow basic hygiene rules, particularly regular handwashing with soap. Parents are reminded that if their children (especially the youngest ones) show symptoms of gastroenteritis (diarrhea, vomiting), they should consult their primary care physician to prevent dehydration, which can be severe in infants.
