Epidemiological Situation of Chikungunya in the Caribbean. Update as of February 20, 2014.

Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

Circulation of the chikungunya virus remains widespread in Saint Martin; the number of clinically suggestive cases continues to rise. This community is in phase 3b of the Psage*: widespread epidemic. In Saint-Barthélemy, the spread of the epidemic remains moderate. This territory remains in Phase 3a of the Psage* chikungunya system: Epidemic situation. In Martinique, the circulation of the virus is intensifying. The number of outpatient visits continues to rise, indicating the spread of the epidemic. Martinique remains in Phase 3a: Epidemic Situation. In Guadeloupe, there continues to be a moderate increase in viral circulation. This department remains in Phase 2a of the Psage*: moderate local transmission. In French Guiana, the first two locally acquired cases have been identified. French Guiana is expected to be placed in Phase 2 of the Psage*: moderate local circulation.
