COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique, March 3, 2022

Key Points

In Martinique, the COVID-19 epidemic continued to decline during week 2022-08. All virological indicators were decreasing. However, SARS-CoV-2 circulation remained at a high level. Against a backdrop of continued declines in testing rates, the incidence rate decreased, as did the positivity rate. The highest incidence rate was observed among those aged 30–39 (1,575 per 100,000 inhabitants).

The effective reproduction number (R_e) calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between February 20 and 26, 2022, was 0.65 [0.63–0.67], significantly below 1, continuing to reflect a decline in the epidemic over this seven-day rolling period.

At the hospital level, pressure remained high in week 2022-08; however, the number of new hospitalizations in general medicine decreased by 48% compared to week 07, while the number of hospitalizations in critical care remained stable.
