COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of February 25, 2022

Key Points

In Guadeloupe, a decline in SARS-CoV-2 circulation has been observed since week 2022-03, amid the predominance of the Omicron variant. In week 2022-07, incidence and positivity rates continued to decline. This decline coincided with a steady decrease in testing. The decrease in the incidence rate was observed across all age groups. However, the highest incidence rates were observed in the 15–44 and 45–64 age groups. The effective R value, which has been significantly below 1 since February 1, confirms the decline in SARS-CoV-2 transmission in Guadeloupe. Based on data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between February 13 and 19, 2022, the effective R value was calculated at 0.59 (95% CI [0.57–0.61]).

The number of emergency room visits, as well as new admissions across all departments, also decreased compared to the previous week. However, the hospital remains under strain.
