Public Health Monitoring in Corsica. Bulletin of July 8, 2026.
Key Points
Extreme Heat, Heat Wave
- Météo France placed the island’s two departments under an orange heat wave alert from June 22 to July 2. This heat wave has now ended, and both departments are currently under a green alert.
Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika
- In Corsica, no imported cases of dengue, chikungunya, or Zika have been confirmed since May 1.
Pollen and Allergies
- In S27, allergy-related activity at SOS Médecins remains low, at a level typical for this time of year.
- Pollen exposure is at a moderate level across most of the island.
Given the low activity at SOS Médecins over the past two weeks, as well as pollen index forecasts, this will be the last update of the season. If necessary, this section will be added back to the bulletin.
Mortality
- In Week 26, the weekly number of deaths from all causes reported by INSEE falls within the usual range of fluctuation. As a reminder, the heat wave began in Corsica on Monday, June 22, which was Week 26.
- Data from electronic death certificates show a decrease in deaths in Week 27, but the data still need to be consolidated, as coverage and sample sizes in Corsica are low.
