In the Indian Ocean region, the number of emergency department visits for asthma among children under 15, as well as their share of total activity, are declining (30 visits and 2.6% in S42 vs. 55 visits and 4.3% in S41), with levels lower than in the previous three years. The number of hospitalizations following visits has risen slightly to 23%.
Nationally, asthma-related visits among children under 15 are down in the SOS Médecins network (762 vs. 826 in Q41, a decrease of 8%), while they remain slightly up in emergency departments (3,724 visits vs. 3,574 in Q41, an increase of 4%). The levels observed are slightly higher than those of the past three years in emergency departments but remain comparable at SOS Médecins.
