Week 38 (September 14–20, 2020):
In the Indian Ocean region, during the fourth week of school in Mayotte and the fifth in Réunion, the number of emergency department visits for asthma among children under 15, as well as the proportion of hospitalizations following these visits, remained stable (92 vs. 95 visits and 39% vs. 40% hospitalization rate in Week 37). The proportion of emergency department visits for asthma among children has risen slightly this week and remains high compared to previous years (11% vs. 5% between 2017 and 2019).
Nationally, during the third week of school in mainland France, asthma-related visits in children under 15 are down in emergency departments (-35%, or -1,471 visits) as well as in the SOS Médecins network (-37%, or -309 cases).
The observed levels of care-seeking are comparable to those of the past three years.
