Week 41 (October 5–11, 2020):

  • In the Indian Ocean region, during the 7th week of school in Mayotte and the 8th in Réunion, the number of emergency department visits for asthma among children under 15 is down (66 vs. 81 visits in Week 40), and the proportion of hospitalizations following visits is slightly up (32% vs. 24% in Week 40). The proportion of emergency department visits for asthma among children is slightly higher and remains significant compared to previous years.

  • Nationally, during the 6th week of school in mainland France, asthma-related visits among children under 15 are slightly up in emergency departments (+8%, or +199 visits) as well as in the SOS Médecins network (+4%, or +20 cases).

  • The observed levels of visits are slightly higher than those of the past three years.
