Prevalence of nosocomial rotavirus infections in pediatrics

During the two winters of 1992–1993 and 1993–1994, 10 hospitals responded to the surveys. These included 3 university hospitals (Angers, Caen, Nantes) and 7 regional hospitals (Cholet, Fontenay-le-Comte, Le Mans, Lisieux, Saint-Brieuc, Saint-Nazaire, and Quimper). In total, the surveys covered 5,783 hospitalized children aged one month to four years. This survey revealed an incidence rate of nosocomial rotavirus infection of 3.9% among admissions.
