How Is the Mental Health of the French Population Changing During the COVID-19 Pandemic? – Results from Wave 28 of the CoviPrev Survey

Key findings from Wave 28 (September 28–October 5, 2021)

  • 80% of French people report having a positive outlook on their lives in general. Low level, down 5 points from pre-pandemic levels, stable trend.

  • 16% of French people show signs of depression. High level, +6 points compared to pre-pandemic levels, rising trend, +3 points compared to Wave 26 (July 15–21).

  • 26% of French people show signs of anxiety. High level, +12 points compared to pre-pandemic levels, rising trend, +7 points compared to Wave 26 (July 15–21).

  • 70% of French people report sleep problems over the past 8 days. High level, +20 points compared to pre-pandemic levels, upward trend, +11 points compared to Wave 26 (July 15–21).

  • 10% of French people have had suicidal thoughts over the past year. High level, +5 points compared to pre-pandemic levels, stable trend.
