Key Points

In Week 02, SARS-CoV-2 continued to circulate at high levels.

  • Incidence, positivity, and testing rates have stabilized nationwide

  • Increase in the number of cases among those aged 75 and older, and in nursing homes

  • Increase in hospitalizations and ICU admissions since early January

  • Most affected regions: Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Grand Est, and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Mortality

COVID-19-related mortality remains high

Emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants

131 cases of infection with the VOC 202012/01 variant (United Kingdom) and 10 cases of infection with the 501Y.V2 variant (South Africa) have been identified

Prevention

  • Vaccination: 692,777 people vaccinated as of January 20, 2021

  • Strengthening adherence to preventive measures and contact tracing for everyone

  • If symptoms develop, immediate isolation is required, and a test must be taken as soon as possible
