Early Assessment of the Impact of Lockdown Measures Implemented to Control the Second Wave of COVID-19 in 22 French Cities, October–November 2020

In France, a series of containment measures was implemented to control the second wave of COVID-19, including a curfew in certain metropolitan areas followed by a national lockdown. This study aims to conduct an early assessment of their effects using a descriptive approach. A change in the trend of confirmed cases and hospital admissions was observed approximately 7 to 10 days after the implementation of the containment measures. These changes occurred earlier in the metropolitan areas where these measures were initially implemented. This temporal relationship suggests a positive impact of the curfew, confirming international experiences.
