The contrasting social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic

COVID-19, a health crisis of unprecedented scale, has also been accompanied by a social crisis. This period—and particularly the lockdown—has revealed and exacerbated inequalities in living and working conditions across social groups, age groups, and between women and men. The Coconel survey "Housing and Living Conditions," conducted in April and May 2020 in metropolitan France, shows that the deterioration in daily life has particularly affected low-income households, young people, and women.
