Barriers to accessing food in rural areas

The idea that people in rural areas can access high-quality food at a lower cost is quite widespread, thanks to local solidarity, proximity to farmland, or the ability to cultivate a small plot of land. However, in these areas, households living in poverty, whose mobility is limited, face higher prices at local stores or must choose between the cost of travel and the cost of groceries.
