National Registry Committee. Activity Report 1996–1999
The National Registry Committee plays an important role in developing and overseeing the monitoring and research activities of registries. The implementation of a new framework in the field of public health, mandated by the legislature, particularly to enhance the transparency of the system, imposes new obligations on its stakeholders. It appears necessary for the results of medical research to be more widely used in public health decision-making and to contribute to the improvement of clinical practice. Registers are key partners of the INVS in the field of surveillance and of the INSERM in the field of research. Health authorities will thus have access to the information necessary to understand the health status and health needs of the population, enabling them to guide their decisions.
