Key Points

In Week 39 (September 21–27, 2026), the number of emergency department visits and hospitalizations following such visits remained stable across all age groups compared to the previous week.

Respiratory indicators continued to rise, reaching levels comparable to previous years for:

  • Influenza/flu-like illness among children under 15 (+37%, or +90 visits).
  • Suspected COVID-19 infection among adults (+22%, or +114 visits).
  • ENT conditions among children under 15 (+10%, or +1,114 visits) and adults aged 75 and older (+13%, or +20 visits).
  • Bronchiolitis in children under 1 year of age (+16%, or +124 visits) and cough in children under 2 years of age (+17%, or +49 visits).
  • Asthma attacks among those aged 75 and older (+23%, or +17 visits).

Among other indicators, there was also an increase in visits for:

  • Gastrointestinal symptoms in children: vomiting at a level slightly higher than in previous years (+13%, or +167 visits), gastroenteritis (+10%, or +253 visits) among children under 15 and acute abdominal pain (+7%, or +288 visits) among children aged 2–14.
  • General malaise among children under 15 (+10%, or +79 visits).
  • Isolated fever among 2- to 14-year-olds (+6%, or +89 visits).
  • Conjunctivitis among children under 15 (+18%, or +46 visits) and adults aged 15–74 (+13%, or +57 visits).
  • Chickenpox among children under 15 (+77%, or 44 more visits).
