Social inequalities in health begin at a very young age.

Inequalities present at birth widen during childhood, a period during which many lifestyle habits are formed. These health inequalities are linked to all other forms of social inequality, particularly those related to living conditions and the vulnerability of children. They are all the more intolerable because they are beyond the control of any individual.
