Prevention messages and intellectual disabilities: a necessary adaptation.
“Prevention messages are not tailored to young people with intellectual disabilities,” notes Éric Marchandet, a sociologist, parent of a child with a disability, and president of an association. He advocates for the creation of specific campaigns targeting this population. “Health education must be integrated into the very institutions that serve this population and promoted not only by professionals but also by educators, other staff members, and, of course, parents.” To achieve this, training is necessary.
