Health education and prisoner rehabilitation.

The authors describe the context and factors to be considered in a health education program within a prison setting. Factors concerning inmates: physical and mental health issues, ability to adapt to prison conditions, and low self-esteem. The approach must take into account the individual’s life experiences to guide them toward self-awareness, an understanding of their relationship with risk, and their addictive behaviors. Several operational guidelines are proposed.
