Energy poverty affects physical and mental health [Interview].

Winter excess mortality is strongly linked to housing conditions. Among these harmful factors, energy poverty—specifically housing that is ill-suited to heat and cold—affects more than 10% of French households, according to several studies. One of these studies concludes that renovating the homes of the poorest households is cost-effective in the short term, as it generates savings in healthcare costs that exceed the costs of renovation.
