A positive school climate and positive peer relationships: essential to well-being and academic success.

Health is defined as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being” (World Health Organization—WHO). School, as the second most important environment in a child’s life after the family, plays a major role in the socialization of young people. In Quebec, researchers have formulated recommendations to improve this well-being and the school climate. The strongly recommended approach in Quebec schools has become the following: a school culture based on kindness, promoting educational interventions carried out calmly, with high standards, and firmness, by adults who encourage students and support them in their social learning.
