A Home First: Helping Homeless People Find and Maintain Housing.

The "Housing First" initiative aims to provide housing within a very short timeframe to people living on the streets, some of whom have been there for over ten years. It represents a genuine structural shift in policies for supporting homeless individuals, where temporary shelter is no longer a mandatory step, but where everyone must be offered housing based solely on the criteria of general law. The short-term goal (2023) is to provide housing for 2,000 homeless people in major cities such as Bordeaux, Dijon, Lyon, Grenoble, Montpellier, Nantes, Nice, and Strasbourg. This scientifically evaluated program has demonstrated its effectiveness, which has enabled its rollout. “A Home First” is obviously not a one-size-fits-all solution; it is one component of a comprehensive approach that builds on people’s strengths and facilitates their social inclusion and the destigmatization of mental illness.
