Frequently Asked Questions

Infectious Diseases

The Santé publique France website features a dedicated section for each infectious disease. Each section includes all relevant information, the latest data, publications, and resources for healthcare professionals.

The surveillance system for reportable diseases relies on the transmission of data by physicians and laboratory scientists (both in private practice and in hospitals) to public health inspectors (MISP) and their colleagues at the Regional Health Agencies (ARS); and then to epidemiologists at Santé publique France.

All reporting forms are available in the dedicated section of the Santé publique France website.

Health, Environment, and Work

Heat waves can have a significant impact on public health. It is therefore essential to take proper precautions. Certain measures must be implemented, especially for those most at risk. Santé publique France’s mission is to:

  • monitor the progression of heat waves and their health consequences

  • implement measures to reduce risks associated with global warming

  • prevent health risks associated with heat waves

See our resource page on heat waves and extreme heat.

All prevention documents and tools are available in the "Extreme Heat and Heat Waves" folder.

Air pollution affects the entire population. The levels of pollutants observed in the atmosphere are associated with health risks, and any reduction in exposure to these pollutants would be beneficial.

Santé publique France’s mission is to:

  • coordinate the Air and Health Monitoring Program (PSAS) at the national and regional levels to generate knowledge about the links between air pollution and health and provide decision-support tools

  • inform public authorities, healthcare professionals, and the general public about the health impacts of air pollution
