2005 Health Barometer: Socioeconomic Determinants of Alcohol Consumption.

Alcohol consumption has been steadily declining in France for the past forty years. This trend is closely linked to individuals’ economic and social circumstances, as indicated by the INPES’s 2005 Health Barometer. The decline is indeed more pronounced among the most affluent segments of the population. However, excessive drinking is not limited to lower-income groups, and the most socially privileged are not the least affected.
