The Organization and Results of Tuberculosis Screening Among Displaced Persons from Ukraine in France in 2022

In 2021, Ukraine had the second-highest incidence of tuberculosis in Europe. Following the invasion of the country on February 24, 2022, 8 million displaced persons fled to other countries. This article describes the active tuberculosis screening strategy implemented by tuberculosis control centers (Clat) among displaced persons from Ukraine in France. The prevalence of cases reported by the Clat was 197 per 100,000. This was higher than the estimated annual incidence in Ukraine. The existence of a well-organized national network of CLATs facilitated screening of displaced persons, despite the challenges inherent in a massive influx of refugees. Suggestions for improving the comprehensiveness of screening are proposed.
