Key Points

In Week 23 (June 6–12, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children (+9%, or +1,816 visits), particularly among those under 2 years of age (+15%), and remained stable among adults.

After 8 weeks of decline, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups rose again for the second consecutive week. In total, 1,027 procedures (vs. 732 procedures in Week 22) were recorded across all age groups (a 40% increase vs. 26% in Week 22). This increase was observed across all age groups. At the regional level, this increase was observed in all regions (with the exception of Centre-Val de Loire) and particularly in Normandy (+102%, or +43 procedures), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (+93%, or +39 procedures), Grand-Est (+83%, or +15 procedures), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (+58%, or 41 procedures), Hauts-de-France (+47%, or 20 procedures), PACA (+36%, or 52 procedures), and Île-de-France (+30%, or 61 procedures).

Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 347,249 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.

Among other indicators:

  • Seasonal indicators: there has been an increase in procedures for heatstroke (+48%, or +27 procedures) and insect bites (+32%, or +175 procedures) across all age groups. Procedures for chickenpox remained stable among children and increased slightly among adults (+36%, or +13 procedures).

  • Among children, there was an increase in cases for ENT conditions (+14%) and isolated fever (+12%).

  • Among children under 2 years of age, the increase also applies, in small numbers, to bronchitis (+34%) and oral and dental conditions (+21%).

  • Among adults, there was an increase in procedures for low back pain/sciatica (+10%, or +202 procedures), urinary tract infections (+9%, or +123 procedures) among those aged 15–74, and pneumonia (+25%, or +32 procedures) among those aged 75 and older.
