Key Points

  • In Week 03 (January 13–19, 2025), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased this week compared to the previous week among children under 15 years of age (+29%, or +7,733 visits), with a more pronounced increase among 2- to 14-year-olds than among children under 2 years of age (33% and 12%, respectively). In contrast, activity decreased among adults (-10%, or -7,854 visits).

  • In this second week of the school year, there has been a sharp increase in cases related to respiratory conditions among children, particularly among those aged 2–14.

  • Procedures for influenza/flu-like syndrome continue to rise sharply (+52%, or +3,089 procedures) and now account for 27% of activity among children, a higher proportion than in the previous three years. There has also been an increase in cases of bronchitis (+34%, or +328 cases), upper respiratory tract conditions (+30%, or +3,268 cases), pneumonia (+41%, or +79 cases), suspected COVID-19 cases (+72%, or 31 additional cases), and coughs (+47%, or 2,252 additional cases). In connection with the start of the school year, there has also been an increase in asthma attacks among children aged 2–14 (+68%, or 140 additional cases).

  • Among adults, all respiratory indicators are declining.

  • Apart from respiratory conditions, there has been an increase in visits among children for viral syndrome (+32%, or +190 visits), isolated fever among 2- to 14-year-olds (+27%, or +119 visits), and digestive disorders, including gastroenteritis (+16%, or +383 visits). Among children under 2 years of age, visits increased for conjunctivitis (+17%, or +43 visits) and skin conditions (+20%, or +13 visits).

  • There was an increase in visits for general malaise among adults and children aged 2–14 (up 113% and 10%, respectively, or 9 and 20 visits). Traumatic injuries also rose, both among children and adults aged 75 and older (up 12% and 10%, respectively, or 49 and 25 visits).
