Key Points

  • At the national level, the number of deaths from all causes reported by INSEE shows an excess between S51 and S01-2025 among those aged 15–64 and 65–84. Among those aged 85 and older, a marked excess is observed in S01-2025.

  • At the regional level, an excess of deaths is observed in the PACA and Normandy regions between S51-2025 and S01-2025. Six other regions in the eastern half of the country are affected by excess mortality in S01-2025 (source: INSEE).

  • In week 02-2025, the number of all-cause deaths certified electronically continues to rise compared to the previous week, primarily among people aged 85 and older and in nursing homes/retirement homes.
