Teens and Pornography: An Analysis of a Controversy.

Should we be concerned about the potential harmful influence of pornography on adolescents’ sexuality? Sociologist Florian Voros presents his analysis of the issue here and encourages a discerning look at what is at stake. No scientific study has provided evidence of a negative effect on health. Since one of the questions raised by the debates surrounding pornography is that of the reproduction of gender norms and hierarchies, rather than focusing on controlling access to pornography, we should strengthen education against sexist stereotypes by developing adolescents’ knowledge and critical thinking skills.
