Key Points

  • Since January 1, 2019, 710 cases of measles have been reported (vs. 1,855 cases during the same period in 2018), including 220 (31%) hospitalizations (11 in intensive care), 53 cases (7.5%) complicated by pneumonia, 2 cases of encephalitis, including 1 death (subacute encephalitis in an immunocompromised individual).

  • 89% of cases occurred in unvaccinated or inadequately vaccinated individuals (out of a total of 486 cases, aged over one year and born since 1980, for whom vaccination status was known).

  • 75 departments reported at least 1 case during the period.
