Measles Outbreak in France. Epidemiological Bulletin as of March 6, 2019

Key Points

  • Since January 1, 2019, 288 cases of measles have been reported (compared to 745 cases during the same period in 2018), including 81 (28%) hospitalizations (4 in intensive care) and 23 (8%) complicated cases (pneumonia).

  • 90% of cases occurred in unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated individuals.

  • 50 departments reported at least 1 case during the period.

  • Any case of measles, as soon as it is suspected, must be reported immediately to the relevant Regional Health Agency (link)
