Increase in these indicators in the Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-Maritimes
Increased COVID-related activity by SOS Médecins associations
Slight increase in use of hospital emergency departments—Sharp rise in the number of hospitalizations

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika
Two outbreaks of locally transmitted dengue have been detected in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. To date, in Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes department, an outbreak involving 4 locally transmitted cases has been confirmed. The cases began showing clinical symptoms between August 11 and September 4. In La Croix-Valmer, in the Var department, 1 locally transmitted case has been confirmed. The patient first exhibited symptoms on August 2. Vector control measures were implemented as soon as the first locally acquired case was identified in each of these outbreaks. Active case finding efforts were launched, including awareness campaigns among healthcare professionals and door-to-door surveys in areas identified as high-risk. The primary imported cases responsible for these two outbreaks have not yet been identified. Increase in hospital indicators. Aside from these five locally acquired cases, since the start of surveillance, 54 confirmed cases of dengue—imported mainly from the French departments in the Americas—have been reported.
Heat Wave
Due to the current heat wave, Météo France’s weather watch has been extended until September 21. Emergency room activity and activity by SOS Médecins regarding conditions potentially related to the heat remain low.
