Epidemiological surveillance in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Update as of November 10, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • Regional viral circulation is on the rise based on the positivity rate, but declining in terms of incidence and testing rates.

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

  • Since the start of enhanced surveillance, 24 imported cases of dengue and 1 imported case of chikungunya have been identified in the region.

  • Three outbreaks of local dengue transmission and 51 cases have been identified in the region.

West Nile virus

  • Five cases of West Nile virus infection have been confirmed by the CNR. These are locally transmitted cases involving individuals residing in or having stayed in the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône (2) and Var (3).

  • In addition, four equine cases were also confirmed by the LNR in the Var department in August and September.

Bronchiolitis

  • 3rd week of the epidemic

  • Emergency departments - The proportion of visits for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age is rising sharply (17.4% vs. 14% in Week 43)

  • SOS Médecins - The proportion of consultations for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age is rising sharply (8.8% vs. 7.2% in Week 43).

Flu

  • Emergency departments - Emergency department activity related to flu-like symptoms remains low

  • SOS Médecins - The proportion of consultations for a diagnosis of influenza-like illness is stable

  • Sentinelles Network - The incidence rate for influenza-like illness reported by the Sentinelles network in week 44, not yet consolidated, is 64 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [6; 122]).
