Epidemiological Surveillance in Corsica. Update as of September 30, 2020.
Key Points
COVID-19: Epidemiological indicators of SARS-CoV-2 circulation in Corsica show a slight decline at the regional level, which is due to a sharp drop in Upper Corsica offset by an increase in Southern Corsica. However, the incidence rate remains above the threshold of 50 per 100,000 inhabitants at the regional level. Nevertheless, the decline in Haute-Corse can be explained in part by a sharp decrease in the testing rate, whereas in Corse-du-Sud, the testing rate is also decreasing, but less sharply, and the incidence rate is increasing;
chikungunya, dengue, Zika: 6 cases of dengue reported since the start of the season (May 1);
West Nile virus infection: two equine cases have been reported by the DGAL in Corsica since the start of the season (May 1). The first case was in Southern Corsica and showed symptoms on August 1. Another case with symptoms on September 3 was reported in Upper Corsica.
