COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Corsica, May 6, 2020

Key indicators

  • Sentinelles network: incidence of acute respiratory infections of 38 per 100,000 inhabitants in S18 (51 in S17);

  • SOS-Médecins: 6% of consultations were COVID-19-related in W18 (14% in W17);

  • laboratories (community and hospital-based): 34 positive test results out of 1,208 samples analyzed in S18, representing a positivity rate of 3% (5% in S17);

  • Emergency departments: 5% of visits were COVID-19-related in S18 (4% in S17);

  • Nursing homes: 2 new cases among residents since April 29 and 13 deaths since the start of surveillance;

  • Hospitalized cases (SI-VIC): 54 patients hospitalized as of May 6, including 6 in intensive care;

  • ICU units: Regardless of age, 69% of cases had at least one risk factor, and the median time to ICU admission was 8 days;

  • All-cause mortality: decrease compared to week S16 (data not yet consolidated).
